Check the quest before leaving base
The published October 10 walkthrough starts The Outpost by interacting with the base Radio Station Bench after New Home. Reaching Hunter’s Glade then starts High Frequency. The developers independently warn that building the base radio must come before tower repairs; repairs made before the quest starts may not register.[1][2]
Carry the Building Tool and repair materials, and use your current quest tracker to confirm the destination. Keeping a separate world backup here is more useful than repairing a future objective early to save time.
From The Outpost to the tower radio
- Follow The Outpost’s destination to the steel lookout at Hunter’s Glade. Check for the quest-completion and High Frequency start notifications before renovating.
- Use the tower’s stairs and speak with the NPC identified as Skinwalker in older guides. Follow the current objective to renovate the tower.
- Equip the Building Tool and repair the existing marked pieces around the cabin and walkway. In the documented build the counter is 0/13; follow the count and material prompts in your own build.
- When the objective changes to the Icarus transmission, interact with the repaired Radio Station Bench and let the broadcast finish. Use the key shown on screen; the published guide’s text and image caption disagree between F and E.
This is the recorded progression in AllThingsHow’s walkthrough, not a route tested by this site. If your tracker has not reached the matching objective, stop before doing the next repair.[1]
Skinwalker may have a different visible name
The October 15 update changes Skinwalker’s displayed trader labels to Scout Trader / General Trader. An older name in a guide is therefore not proof you reached the wrong NPC. Match the quest location and dialogue, not just a nameplate.[3]
If the radio or renovation will not advance
| Symptom | What to check | Known limit |
|---|---|---|
| Tower already repaired before High Frequency | Keep that save and report the order of actions. | Early repairs may fail to register; no universal reset is established. |
| Hopes and Dreams is also active | Update the game; overlap is no longer itself a blocker. | The fix does not prove an early tower repair was recovered. |
| Cannot place new structures | Check whether you are in a No-Build Zone and should be renovating existing pieces. | The documented tower task repairs marked parts rather than building a new tower. |
| Icarus transmission completed | Check the tracker for The Way Home and speak with the trader as prompted. | The next reward-box problem has its own co-op workaround. |
For the first two cases, the developers’ current quest guidance takes precedence over launch advice to postpone Hopes and Dreams.[2] For the next chest or blueprint, see The Way Home checks.
